Painting with Light

Saturday - 6 April 2019

Let’s have some fun lightpainting. The day will start with a slideshow about light and technique. Then we will do some shooting (inside) as well as learning about post-processing light painted images in Photoshop. We will be photographing still life setups lit with flashlights and other LED lights. Light painted images have a saturated stylistic Rembrandt feel that flat lighting does not produce. Come learn how to see light, try different techniques for lightpainting and watch some post-processing of light painted images. Although we will not have a night component to this class, these same techniques can be applied to photographing and light painting at night. e will be photographing still life setups lit with flashlights and other LED lights. You do NOT need any light painting/long exposure/night photography experience, but you should know how to change your ISO, and how to put your camera on bulb mode. Tripod and Cable release required (you can purchase one from Hunts if you do not have one).

“Photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them” – Elliot Erwin
